About Me
I am a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) providing counseling services to adults and teens facing a range of personal challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, existential concerns, parenting and postpartum challenges. My private practice has been open since 2017, following many years of clinical work in community mental health settings.
How I Work
We are all shaped by our experiences, some of which have inevitably been painful or traumatic. As humans, we have incredible capacity to adapt and survive our environments. These adaptations become part of our patterning – our behaviors, our defenses, our ways of seeing the world and our place in it. Our work together involves finding how this shows up in your life now – in memory, body, beliefs, and relationships. With great compassion, we build awareness and understanding of how and why your unique internal system was developed, how it has protected you, and how it interferes now with what you truly need and want. I believe that we are all naturally inclined toward healing. While I am often an active participant in the therapy process (asking questions, reflecting observations, encouraging deeper exploration), ultimately I believe the most important part of my role is holding safe and welcoming space for you to do the healing work you are inherently capable of doing.
My work is guided by my belief that an authentic, caring relationship and a space of non-judgment are the most essential elements of therapy. From the safety of this container we can explore, reflect, and build insight about the patterns and stories that limit you. My approach is based broadly in a psychodynamic perspective, as well as a belief that the therapeutic process must always evolve to fit the needs and interests of each client. My work draws from a variety of modalities and frameworks including attachment theory, mindfulness, transpersonal psychology, internal family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic awareness, and child parent psychotherapy. I carefully attend to past experiences of trauma, as well as spiritual and cultural beliefs/values.
